Research Projects (Major Grants/Research Collaboration)

  • Awarded Research Project entitled “New Strategies for Regioselective C-H Functionalization of Aromatic    and Heteroaromatic Precursors” by Department of Science and Technology(DST-SERB) in Nov 2021, Grant Rs. 42,000,00/-.

  • Awarded Major Research Project entitled “Design and Strategic Synthesis of some Novel Marine Natural Products of Biological Importance” by Department of Science and Technology (DST) in March 2015, Grant Rs. 43,000,00/- Completed. (Biological Significance: Marine natural products exhibit potent biological activities and unique biochemical mode of action but most of these are usually isolated in very small quantities, hindering further studies to establish their biological activities as well as structural modifications. Therefore, chemical synthesis of some of the marine natural products is focused in this project. Compounds aimed possess potential Antimalarial, Antioxidant & Antiinflammatory activities. Completed.)

  • Awarded Research Project entitled “Design & Synthesis of alphahydroxyl ssuccinamic acid, isolated from Eugenia Jambolana and its structural analogs for assessment of their antidiabetic potential in STZ induced rats” in collaboration with Prof. S.B.Sharma, UCMS,Delhi University, by Indian Council of Medical Research( ICMR) in Oct. 2015 ,  Grant Rs. 24,50,847/-  Completed. (Biological Significance: We have isolated an active compound (FIIc) from fruit pulp of Eugenia Jumbolana and isolated compound has shown potential antihyperglycemic, hypolipidemic and antioxidant activities. However, E. Jumbolana is a seasonal fruit and its storage is difficult. The extraction procedure is elaborate, produces very less yield and is expensive. To overcome these difficulties and in view of vast spectrum of biological activities, it is worthwhile to develop the synthesis of this important compound. The synthesized compounds having antidiabetic activity are important for the pharma industry and in turn to the society. One indian patent has been filed in this project.)
