Mousumi Ray holds an M.Phil from D.U. Her areas of interest are Film and Literature, Popular Fiction and Renaissance Studies. As a teacher she believes in the efficacy of the ‘chalk and talk' method of lecturing, but likes to regularly intersperse her lectures with slide shows of paintings, art and architecture and movie screenings to give the students a syncretic view of the age and issues under consideration. She believes that teaching is a two-way process and encourages the spirit of interrogation. Her mantra for her students is - ‘The questioning monkey learns most. She is/has been convenor/member of:

Started teaching career with Shri Shikshayatan College, CU-1997, as Part-Time Lecturer.

Academic Activities Teacher at G.D. Birla Girls' High School, Kolkata- 1997-99

Thereafter shifted to Delhi and began my D.U Chapter by teaching in Lady Shri Ram College, Gargi College and Miranda House College.
