Gurvandna R.M. Singh is an Associate Professor of English at ARSD College with over 38 years of teaching experience. She holds a BA (Hons.) and an MA degree from Miranda House, University of Delhi. She completed her M.Phil in 1988 from University of Delhi. She started her teaching career at Kirori Mal College and worked there for 5 years before joining ARSD College.
Stemming from her core interest in the Victorian period, she is currently pursuing her PhD from MRIIRS, Faridabad, on the novels of the Brontë sisters. Her thesis is entitled "A Quest for Self and Soul: A Study of the Novels of the Brontë sisters" which has been submitted to the university.
She has published 4 papers in reputed journals. She has also presented several papers in national and international conferences.
As a teacher she is passionate about the 19th Century Literature. She also has a keen understanding of 20th Century Literature with special focus on the Novel & Drama. Her area of expertise includes Ancient Greek and Roman dramatic traditions as well.
She has taken up various admininistrative responsibilities over the years. She has been the Coordinator of the English Department several times. She has worked as a member of various committees such as the Timetable Committee, APC, Discipline Committee, Magazine Committee and been incharge of Seminar and Association Committees of the Department. She has contributed to the Student's Societies also and has served as Convenor of the English Debating Society from 2015 to 2017 and as a member in 2017-2018. It was in her tenure that the event of 'Youth Conclave' was held for the first time in ARSD College and which has become an annual feature after that.
Her methods of imparting learning are student centric and based on developing the academic and holistic personalities of her students.
